Guidelines

Use of the room is intended for Anne Arundel Community College students, faculty and staff only, to accommodate faith-based, religious or spiritual practices.

Use of the room will be granted through the end of the term by filling in the Serenity Space Usage Request Form on the Nest. Please select forms from the menu on the upper left corner) or complete a paper form in the Office of Student Engagement, SUN 225 or Dean of Student Development, SUN 227

  • Space is allowed on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The number of individuals allowed in the space at a time will be determined by each site location.
  • Room reservations are not permitted.
  • Time is limited to 30 minutes per visit.

Food and beverages are not permitted in the room.

Users are encouraged provide their own mats. Any mats provided by the College in the serenity space must be sanitized after use with cleaning materials provided. The use of flammable items, such as lit candles, burning oils or incense is prohibited.

Cell phones must be silenced and only used in emergency situations.

Storage shelves for personal items are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Backpacks and additional belongings may be placed in the storage area.
  • All personal items must be removed from the room after each use.
  • Users place their items here at their own risk. Anne Arundel Community College is not responsible for items left in the storage area in the Serenity Space.

Bare feet will not be permitted in the room. Feet must be covered by socks or stockings.

The furniture may be rearranged to suit the needs of the individual utilizing the room; however, no furniture is to be removed from the room. The furniture and other items in the room must also be returned to their original default placement after use.

Silence and mutual respect of others and the room is expected by all users.

  • If music or other forms of audio is used for expression, headphones must be used.
  • Other individuals using the room may not be disturbed.

This room is not to be used as a lounge, study area or meeting room. The purpose of this room is to provide a place on campus for individuals to engage in faith-based, religious, or spiritual practices.

Individuals that do not adhere to these guidelines or repeatedly misuse the room may be restricted from using this room and/or face disciplinary action.
