Training Overview

PRE-APPRENTICESHIPS

Plumbing

The Pre-apprenticeship Plumbing program is designed to prepare you to enter and succeed in a registered Plumbing Apprenticeship program. You will learn from an industry professional while participating in classroom and online instruction with hands-on lab training at AACC’s Clauson Center for Innovation and Trades. Along with gaining valuable industry knowledge, you will also obtain OSHA and CPR/First Aid certifications while preparing for entry into a registered apprenticeship program.

Program Status: At this time, the Pre-apprenticeship Plumbing program is not scheduled. Individuals interested in plumbing careers are encouraged to explore our Mechanical Technology program, which introduces students to plumbing systems, heating, ventilation and air conditions (HVAC), which will equip you with the skills needed to secure entry level employment in HVAC, plumbing, pipefitting or building maintenance, and can lead to a registered HVAC or plumbing apprenticeship with our industry partner Associated Builders and Contractors of Chesapeake.

APPRENTICESHIP PLUMBING PROGRAM

Plumbing apprenticeships are four-year registered apprenticeship programs that combine paid on-the-job training with related classroom instruction. Apprentices work full time under the supervision of experienced journey-workers while attending evening classes that support the technical knowledge needed in the trade.

Individuals interested in apprenticeship opportunities generally work for a contractor participating in the program through Associated Builders and Contractors of the Chesapeake Shores (ABC). Once registered, apprentices complete their related classroom instruction in the evening at Anne Arundel Community College.
