Getting a jump-start with a pre-apprenticeship

Three photos of Mary doing different electrical tasks.

“Choosing to become an electrician opened a world of opportunity for me. There are many specialties and opportunities to grow your career in this field.”

After completing AACC's pre-apprenticeship electrical program in May, Mary Delaney went on to become an apprenticeship student with the college's partner Independent Electrical Contractors Chesapeake. She credits AACC’s pre-apprenticeship electrical program with giving her a head start in her electrical apprenticeship journey.

“A lot of people enter the electrical field without knowing how to use tools, but thanks to AACC, I was already skilled in splicing wires, bending EMT, roughing and installing outlets when I began. This made me confident and allowed my foreman to trust me with more responsibilities right away.”
