Explore appropriate medical language and knowledge of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) systems with focus on the safety and well-being of the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Integrate medicolegal and ethical issues intended to improve the health of EMS personnel, patients, and their community. Apply basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology with communication, patient assessment, and basic life support skills into patient care plans for Airway, Breathing and Circulation. Successful course completion leads to American Heart Association CPR and AED Certification. Practice select procedures on each other during college lab. Lab fee $125. Prerequisite: Eligibility for ENG 101/ENG 101A. Note: Credit is not given for both EMT 105 and EMT 116 and EMT 117.
