Circle ‘61

The Anne Arundel Community College Foundation greatly appreciates the vision and generosity of those who leave a bequest in their will or trust to support the college and the success of our students. The name Circle ’61 was established as a reminder of when AACC opened its doors to the community in 1961. The circle signifies our continuum of educational excellence, with more than 50 years of support from our community.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I designate my gift to a specific area or program?

Gifts to the AACC Foundation provide unrestricted support for the college, allowing the foundation to put funds to use where the need is greatest. However, if you are interested in supporting a specific scholarship or program, contact the foundation at 410-777-2515 or foundation@aacc.edu.

Can I make a gift in honor/memory of a loved one?

Yes, you may make a gift to AACC in honor or in memory of a family member, classmate, faculty member or other loved one, mentor or friend. Indicate whom you are honoring when making your gift.

How can I increase the impact of my support through a matching gift?

Many companies and foundations will double the value of charitable gifts made by employees and their spouses, board members and retirees. Contact your human resources office to see if your organization matches charitable gifts to AACC.

AACC is a publicly funded institution; doesn't the county/state take care of its needs?

Anne Arundel Community College is a publicly funded institution, but diminishing public funding requires the college to seek and secure other sources of revenue to develop and sustain programming and provide scholarships to meet student needs. Pell Grants, the largest source of scholarships designated for the most underprivileged community college students, once covered the entire cost of obtaining an associate degree. A recent national study estimated that current Pell grants only cover 62 percent of the cost of a two-year degree. Gifts from individuals, business and foundations make it possible for more students to enroll, complete their degree, get a good job, and give back to our community.
